In a busy few days for easyJet, the airline last week signed Virgin Atlantic as a powerful new airline partner to the ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ connections service and followed up by launching its spring and summer 2019 programmes.
The Virgin tie-up means easyJet passengers can now connect seamlessly through Gatwick between easyJet and Virgin Atlantic flights from the likes of Barcelona to Orlando and Edinburgh to Las Vegas.
The deal complements easyJet’s existing relationships with Norwegian, WestJet, Thomas Cook Airlines, Corsair, La Compagnie, Aurigny and Loganair, and the new link with Singapore Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary airline Scoot (see BTN 10 September).
Airline CEO Johan Lundgren said: “We are pleased to welcome Virgin Atlantic to ‘Worldwide by easyJet’. Given we both serve many popular destinations from Gatwick, we are confident their addition will be very popular with our customers.”
“We have been delighted with the appetite of partner airports and airlines to expand Worldwide across our network and continue to broaden our focus to launch more airline partners and add connectivity to more of our biggest airports.”
Easyjet’s new spring 2019 programme has more than 151,000 flights between 31 March and 23 June now on sale. The summer line-up has 129,488 flights set to take place across the network between 24 June and 1 September, providing more than 22m seats.
