Meals boost by American

Passengers on US domestic flights with American Airlines lasting more than 3hr are being given the option of eating from a new “light and healthy” Mediterranean menu as the carrier continue to expand its in-flight food choices.

In the latest development, the airline is teaming up with the US "fast casual" food chain Zoës Kitchen to introduce a new food-for-sale menu in the main cabin from 1 December. Items featured include dishes such as hummus and a waffle and fresh berry breakfast box.

American’s vice-president of global marketing Janelle Anderson said: “Zoës' mission to deliver goodness from the inside out with simple fresh offerings made it an easy decision to partner with and provide a fresh approach to onboard offerings.”

Other dishes on offer from the new menu include another signature item, the “Gruben” sandwich with sliced turkey, cheese, cole slaw and feta layered on marble wheat bread. It’s served with a chocolate chip cookie.

Zoës Ktchen president and CEO Kevin Miles added: “Our goal in our restaurants is to provide delicious, wholesome food inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean and for our guests to feel good and motivated to live life to the fullest after dining.”
