Major order for CTT

Growing demand for passenger comfort fuelled by longer flights and modern aircraft has resulted in another successful year for inflight humidity systems specialist CTT, with a major line-fitting order for the Business Class cabin of an entire Airbus A350-900 fleet just announced.

Vice-president for sales, marketing and customer support Peter Landquist said in London last week aircraft delivery for the so-far undisclosed carrier was scheduled between the second half of 2019 and 2023.

He added: “This is the second airline award this year for our Inflight Humidification System (IFH) in Business Class on an A350-900. Further, two airlines this year have selected humidification for First and Business on the Boeing B777X.

“The system means an airline can take the Business Class experience to a higher level where passengers benefit from what we call ‘true wellbeing’ from better sleep, improved taste buds and senses, as well as reducing jetlag.”

Landquist noted modern widebody aircraft had made great progress in lowering cabin altitude, reducing noise and installing advanced lighting, leaving control of humidity levels as “the next big step” in passenger comfort.

Business Class cabins without humidification systems achieved a humidity level of 6%-10% at best, still far too dry compared with conditions at ground level, he added.
