The application process opened last week for two flying scholarships from the Nick Davidson Memorial Trust charity, to begin in the spring of 2019 at the EFG Flying School at Biggin Hill Airport.
The scholarships, which are worth £12,000 each and will provide training to international Private Pilot Licence (PPL) standard, are open to those aged between 16 and 26.
Winners are offered 45hr of flying and a ground school programme of nine specialist subjects, with topics ranging from air law to navigation. All textbooks and equipment are included.
One scholarship is funded by the family of late BA captain Nick Davidson, who did his initial pilot training at Biggin Hill and whose family launched the scholarship scheme in his memory in 2014. The second scholarship is funded by the airport.
Applications close on Friday 30 November. Applicants should submit an up-to-date CV and covering letter describing why they should be awarded a scholarship to selection board chairman Captain Gary Merchant at ndmfs@bigginhillairport.com.
Alternatively, applications can be posted to Melanie Courtney, Terminal Building, Biggin Hill Airport, Bromley TN16 3BH – mark the envelope NDMFS.
