Transfers at Stansted are on the way to being simplified following the formation of a strategic partnership between the airport and travel technology specialist Kiwi.com in a “Virtual Interline” initiative.
Officials say it will deliver “a fast, comfortable and hassle-free transfer product at Stansted for the benefit of passengers and all full-service and low-cost airlines operating at the airport”.
Kiwi says transfers will be simple, fast and seamless without the strain of exiting into the check-in hall, transferring terminals or having to re-check baggage for every flight – unlike the existing self-connect models.
Chief business development officer Zdenek Komenda said: “Using Kiwi.com’s algorithms, machine learning capabilities and data insights, passengers from more than185 countries will be able to buy more than 2,500 flight combinations for travel via Stansted.
“The global growth of our ‘virtual interline’ model is enabling seamless travel and we are committed to making travel better for both users and providers."
Stansted chief commercial officer Aboudy Nasser added: “We are developing a revolutionary transfer product that delivers the benefits of the existing interline model and airport assisted self-connect model without their inherent disadvantages. It’s a win/win for airlines and passengers.”
