Flybe unveils its new colours

A new streamlined livery arrived for Flybe last week as the airline revealed its first aircraft to display the latest colours. The design will be rolled out across the whole fleet of Bombardier Q400s and Embraer E175s over the next six years at a rate of ten a year.

The airline said the work will be co-ordinated in line with existing fleet repainting and planned maintenance programmes, and the new white and purple livery will therefore be delivered at no extra cost to the business.

Created by Flybe’s in-house design team, it is said to offer a cleaner and more modern line than the existing all-over purple to reflect more strongly the airline’s brand positioning ‘Close to You’, emphasising the carrier’s role in connecting regional communities.

CEO Christine Ourmières-Widener said last week’s unveiling marked “a memorable new chapter” for Flybe, strengthening its positioning as well as being an integral part of an ongoing programme to reinvigorate the fleet.

The remaining aircraft still in Flybe’s white and blue livery will be the first to be re-painted, followed by those which have been purple for longest. Four new E175s scheduled for delivery next July will arrive with the new livery already in place.

What a boring colour scheme! This is not fresh, this is not innovative, this is without transferring a message, this is nothing. The old colour scheme was MUCH better!
