Embraer's 'Shark' arrives

Sporting the shark’s mouth livery on the nose that has guaranteed the aircraft wide press coverage since its debut at Farnborough, Embraer’s E190-E2 airliner landed in Amsterdam on Wednesday to start the European leg of its world demonstration tour.

Its arrival follows successful sorties in Africa and the US, with the aircraft now due to demonstrate its capabilities in more than 15 more countries this month. The first official showing is in Warsaw.

Embraer Commercial Aviation vice-president for Europe, Russia, Central Asia and Leasing Martyn Holmes said: “The E190-E2 started revenue flights in Europe earlier in the year, followed by a successful appearance at the Farnborough Airshow.

“We are now proud to show off our new aircraft to operators across Europe and the CIS and present the E190-E2 to the airlines, many of which are already E-Jet operators.”

The E190-E2 has been in commercial operation with Norway’s Widerøe, since April of this year. Embraer says three jets have already accumulated close to 2,000 flight hours achieving schedule reliability of more than 99%.

The aircraft has a maximum range of up to 3,293 miles (5,300km); about 620 miles (1,000km) longer than current generation E190.
