St Regis heads for Melbourne
The first hotel in Australia for the St Regis luxury hotel brand is due to open in 2022 in Melbourne. Owned by Century Group Aus, the new-build property will be in the city centre as part of the area’s distinct architecture and arts scene.
The hotel, in the luxury mixed-use precinct Flinders Bank will be a gateway to the central business district, putting guests within walking distance of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The St Regis Melbourne will occupy levels two to 11 of the 33-storey Flinders Bank, offering 168 guestrooms and suites with views of the Yarra River or the city skyline.
Food and beverage offerings will include a speciality restaurant, a lounge and the St Regis Bar serving the local rendition of the brand’s signature cocktail, the Bloody Mary.
Leisure facilities will include a fitness and wellness centre with 25m indoor pool and an Iridium spa and beauty salon. There will be dedicated spaces for corporate gatherings, special events and weddings.
Marriott International regional senior director for hotel development Richard Crawford said: “This signing is an indication of the investment community’s confidence in the Australian hotel market and its growing demand for premium lodgings.”
