Long-haul wellness from SIA

Passengers on the forthcoming world’s longest flight will be given special “wellness” meals and other benefits to allay the effects of ultra-long-range (ULR) travel thanks to a partnership between Singapore Airlines (SIA) and wellness brand Canyon Ranch.

SIA said the idea was “to reinvent ultra-long-haul travel with a focus on wellness cuisines, rest and relaxation, and general well-being” for its 18hr 45min non-stop service launching on 11 October between Singapore and New York Newark (BTN 16 July).

The programme will also extend to other ULR non-stop services being introduced between Singapore and Los Angeles from 2 November and San Francisco from 28 November.

The flights are being made possible by the arrival in the SIA fleet of the Airbus A350-900ULR, for which the airline is lead customer. Aircraft will have a two-class Business and Premium Economy layout, with no Economy cabin.

SIA customer experience senior vice-president Yeoh Phee Teik said: “We are firmly committed to continually elevating our customers’ experience to be the number one in the industry.

“Our partnership with Canyon Ranch builds on that and our strong legacy of service by tapping into their deep expertise and science-based recommendations and strategies to deliver an even more comfortable journey for our customers.”
