More routes for Wizz

Four new winter routes are joining the Wizz Air network from the carrier’s Luton base in October following what it says has been a year of “massive” growth and marking the next phase of growth for its UK operations.

This follows the company last month receiving an Air Operator’s Certificate and Operating Licence from the Civil Aviation Authority for a wholly-owned subsidiary, Wizz Air UK (BTN 7 May), which it now calls the newest British airline.

The new services are to Eilat in Israel, Grenoble in the French Alps, Italian cultural and business centre Verona and Tromsø in Norway.

Wizz, which is the second-largest airline at Luton airport, has increased its operations at the airport by 10% year-on-year and with 7.9m seats on sale for the coming year offers 51 destinations in 25 countries from the north London airport.

The four new routes bring the total of new Wizz destinations from Luton launched this year to 12, including recently-announced services to Larnaca, Tirana, Tallinn, Bratislava, Lviv, Athens, Keflavik and Bari.
