KLM Economy Class upgrade

An upgraded Economy Class service is being offered by KLM from next week aboard its intercontinental flights.

Each passenger will receive a bottle of water, a facial towel and earphones on boarding. This will be followed by an extended choice of meals on flights out of Amsterdam, with intercontinental daytime services featuring a choice of warm dishes, a large salad, and a dessert.

On medium-range and longer intercontinental flights, the selection of snacks will be further extended with ice-creams, sweets and savoury nibbles. Passengers will also be welcome to collect the snacks in the galley.

The new service will be introduced next Sunday, 1 July, on flights to Bonaire via Aruba, Entebbe via Kigali, Fortaleza, Osaka, Hong Kong, Vancouver, Seoul, Rio de Janeiro and Houston.

From the start of the winter schedule on 28 October, the service will be available on all KLM intercontinental services, which will be subdivided into day and night flights and into three different distance zones – short, medium and long-range.

The airline says the service will be adjusted by zone so that “it best coincides with passengers’ biorhythms”. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will continue to be served on every flight.
