Airport hotel shake-up

Promising to “revamp the staid airport hotel experience”, Marriott International’s Renaissance brand has made its debut in Poland and plans to open 16 more similar properties worldwide over the next 12 months.

The company’s first footing in Poland is the Renaissance Warsaw Airport Hotel, to be followed by the opening of the Renaissance Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Hotel in November. The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel opened late last year.

Vice-president of global brand marketing & management George Fleck: “As global air travel demand continues to grow, there is an increasing opportunity to reimagine airport hotels through clever, theatrical design and engaging guest experiences.

“We are thrilled to introduce Renaissance Warsaw Airport Hotel, whose design coupled with regular special events provides our guests with an open invitation to experience something a little unexpected during their travels.”

The new property, with easy access to Warsaw Airport and surrounding business parks and just 20min from the city centre, boasts 225 stylish rooms and suites decorated with local graphic art.

Other features include a Discovery Table manned by “Navigators” – hotel staff who use their local knowledge to encourage guests to go “off-script” and discover attractions that can’t be found in guide books.
