Brunei welcomes A320neo

Singapore will move up the rankings on Royal Brunei Airline’s route map on Thursday, 7 June, when it becomes the first destination to be served from Brunei by the carrier’s new A320neo aircraft.

This the first of seven of the type on firm order from the airline, with three on option in a deal announced in 2014 as part of Royal Brunei’s fleet renewal programme.

CEO Karam Chand said: “The A320neo comes equipped with the Leap-1A26 CFM engine, featuring some of the best fuel, noise, emission and operating efficiency in its class.

“This will allow us to achieve significant cost savings and reduce our emissions footprint – we are based on the island of Borneo, which has one of the most pristine environments on earth, and we are pleased to be playing a part in preserving this.”

Chand noted his airline’s A320neo is also the world’s first narrow-body aircraft fitted with the Thales Avant (Gen5) in-flight entertainment system to provide passengers with on-board features matching those generally available only on long-haul aircraft.

The new aircraft will also feature Business Class, Economy Plus and Economy seats with leather covering, USB power outlets and audio/video on demand for every passenger.
