Round the world on Virgin

More travel options between the UK and Australia and passengers having the opportunity to travel around the world all the way on Virgin airlines are on the cards after Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia expanded their new codeshare agreement (BTN 8 January).

Passengers on Virgin Atlantic can now buy tickets directly to Sydney, connecting via Hong Kong, on to Virgin Australia services and travel on one booking with a single check in and bag drop.

The new codeshare is available on flights departing from 2 July, with the new Sydney service an addition to the Melbourne flights, whose codeshare services launched earlier this year.

Passengers travelling through Los Angeles can already fly directly to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as part of the codeshare, while the carriers say the new deal will also open up more domestic options across Australia.

This brings in major business cities such as Cairns, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Hobart and leisure destinations such as the Gold Coast, all of which are served by Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia group executive Rob Sharp said passengers should now look forward to a seamless travel experience when flying between the UK and Australia “with renowned Virgin service and product all the way”.
