Frankfurt raises the roof

Passengers with a little time to spare as they wait for flights at Frankfurt Airport can now relax in style in a new €1.5m roof terrace just opened atop the transit zone of Terminal 1 with a view of the bustling activity at Germany’s largest aviation hub.

Complete with a free-to-use telescope, the area also has a stand to provide information about what is going on down on the apron while a monitor screen shows the weather report for the next few days.

Covering 138sq m, the Open Air Deck, as it’s officially called, also features comfortable seating surrounded by plants, while airport officials stress the value of its fresh air and natural light to help to overcome jetlag.

Airport users can also have a panoramic view of the apron and airfield from the Visitors’ Terrace, next to the food plaza on Level 4 in the publicly-accessible part of Terminal 2.

The development is part of airport operator Fraport’s “Gute Reise! We make it happen” programme promoting its commitment to meeting the individual needs and wishes of travellers and visitors. This regularly develops and introduces new services and facilities to continue improving the customer experience.
