Glasgow to Frankfurt

Connections between Glasgow and Germany were given another boost last week with the launch of a new daily flight to Frankfurt by Lufthansa. The airline already flies Glasgow – Munich five times a week. Both routes use the Airbus A320.

Senior sales director UK, Ireland and Iceland Andreas Koester said the new Frankfurt service further underlined Lufthansa’s commitment to the Glasgow area and opened “a huge number” of business and leisure opportunities for Scottish passengers.

“Not only does it provide access to one of Europe’s financial capitals, but it also introduces new options for onward travel to hundreds of worldwide destinations,” he added.

Koester said Lufthansa had been able to increase its flight offer at Glasgow from a single weekly service to 12 flights a week in just six months: “This level of growth is almost unprecedented and underlines the importance of Glasgow Airport to us.”

Glasgow Airport commercial director Francois Bourienne said the route linked two cities with much in common, while Glasgow Chamber of Commerce chief executive Stuart Patrick said Frankfurt would be “a source of opportunities for our business community as they travel the globe in sectors such as food and drink, engineering and financial services”.
