Accessories focus at Destinations

Destinations is a holiday show for consumers, but one section could always interest business travellers, writes John Burke. Almost one-fifth of the space at Olympia last week was dedicated to accessories.

They ranged from clothing and equipment to medicine and security, while advice on the last subject was provided by the ubiquitous Lloyd Figgins of Global Risk Mitigation.

Remote Medical Support and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine were also there. It may also be worth checking the list of dedicated exhibitors at both London and Manchester on the Destinations website, some of whom are mentioned below without endorsement.

Water-to Go, based in Bedford, offered flasks that filter 99.9% of contaminants, while Craghoppers from Manchester was advertising “the world’s first and only range of clothing to repel insects”.

Cobra Cords of Dorset was promoting lengthy cables for iPhones, an idea invented by the manageress of Travelodge in Inverness.

And CybaShield was on hand with anti-hacking sleeves for credit cards and passports and the like, although there was no hint of a device to prevent a thief from taking a laptop from the owner’s tray as it precedes him through airport security.
