Yotel to open in Edinburgh

Ambitious expansion plans by the Yotel company boosted by a recent $250m strategic partnership with global private investment firm Starwood Capital Group have led the company to announce plans for its first hotel in Edinburgh.

The city-centre 240-room property, due to open in early 2019, will be at Erskine House on Queen Street, with easy access to city attractions and both Waverley and Haymarket rail stations within walking distance.

The Yotel brand features rooms called “cabins” that the company says integrate the elements of luxury hotels into specially-designed spaces ranging from Premium Cabins to VIP Suites to suit every budget without compromising on comfort and convenience.

CEO Hubert Viriot said: “Our new hotel will be a great addition to Edinburgh, with contemporary and playful design together with technology-driven experiences delivering an exciting alternative to the current mostly-traditional offering.”

Starwood Capital managing director and head of European hotels Cody Bradshaw added: “We’ve leveraged our in-house expertise in site acquisition, planning and redevelopment to find the perfect building in Edinburgh for our first Yotel project.

“We’ve brought in a local architect to incorporate elements of the surrounding area in keeping with the innovative spirit of the Yotel brand, which together will create something unique in this local market.”
