Claimed to be Europe’s largest facility of its kind, the new Paris Convention Centre has been officially inaugurated within the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition complex, which is undergoing a ten-year renovation project which began in 2015.
Officials say the new facility has been designed to host the biggest international conferences and will keep Paris at the forefront of the business tourism market and help it to retain its market-leading position.
Features include a 5,200-seat plenary hall connected to 44,000sq m of exhibition space. A spokesman said events involving more than 30,000 participants have already booked the centre, with more large-scale gatherings planned through 2022.
“The centre is fully modular and its many amenities – including exhibition halls, meeting and conference rooms, permanent and mobile food stands, an event space, green roof and vast car park – means it can be adapted to every imaginable situation,” he added.
Offering views of Paris, the plenary hall has a glass roof, meaning conferences can be held in natural light, while every conference room is fully furnished with speakers that offer high-quality sound and create an ideal acoustic environment for visitors.
