New CEO for VLM

In a change at the top for VLM Airlines, parent company SHS Aviation BV said last week Harm Prins had decided to leave the company, with Karl Rickard taking over as CEO.

Rickard began his career as an engineer, holding senior technical positions in aviation maintenance companies including KLM, Luxair and Team Air Lingus before becoming CEO of Power Jet Aviation in 2010.

The Luxembourg-based company provides aircraft pre-purchase inspections, asset valuation, aircraft disassembly and end-of-life solutions for retired fleets. Rickard has extensive experience in airline operations, route development, finance and regulatory matters.

He said: “I am glad to come on board at a moment my predecessor Harm has laid a good foundation for the future. VLM Airlines is now ready to gear up its activities and we will start preparing the launch of our future long-haul operations.”

Prins, credited with being the driving force behind the successful resurrection of VLM, added: “As with other investment projects I have worked on, it gives me satisfaction when I can put a company back on track.

“The past few months have been intense but with the integration of Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium and the three AOCs for VLM, I consider my job done. It is now up to others to run the business.”
