Level heads for Orly

Paris Orly has been chosen by International Airlines Group (IAG) as the next base for its low-cost long-haul brand Level. The carrier, which launched from Barcelona earlier this year, will replace IAG’s existing Open Skies airline, launched by BA in 2008.

IAG said the Paris operations will begin next July with flights to Montreal, New York, Guadeloupe and Martinique, operated by staff currently working for Open Skies, which will continue running Orly – New York flights until the end of the summer.

IAG CEO Willie Walsh, said: “Barcelona was always a first step and we’re delighted to launch flights from our second European city with four exciting new routes from Paris.

“Like Barcelona, Orly is a Vueling hub which means customers will be able to fly there from other parts of Europe to connect on to Level. We will also benefit from the local experience and knowledge of the OpenSkies team.”

Level will base two Airbus A330-200s at Orly, with 21 seats in Premium Economy and 293 in Economy. Benefits for Premium Economy passengers will include checked luggage plus a free cabin bag, meals, seat selection and the latest film releases.
