Full speed at Heathrow T2B

A joint project between Heathrow and Star Alliance member airlines is making things easier for passengers connecting through the airport’s Terminal 2-The Queen’s Terminal (T2B) by enabling faster transfers.

The new facility enables those with arriving or departing flights at the terminal to pass through security within the same concourse, which officials say allows the customers to make better use of their time on the ground.

Star Alliance passengers travelling in First or Business Class or holding Gold Status can relax in either the Air Canada, Singapore Airlines or United Airlines lounges, which are all in T2B.

With the dedicated security check-point now available, Star Alliance airlines and the airport say they can now work together to deliver a more seamless transition for transferring passengers with optimised aircraft stand allocation.

The system means inbound aircraft can be allocated stands close to departing aircraft, leaving passenger having to walk only a matter of steps for their next flights.

Star Alliance vice-president customer experience Christian Draeger said: "Having all member carriers in the same terminal has allowed us to reduce the minimum connecting time between flights and with the additional security in T2B, transfers via the facility are becoming more convenient and attractive.”
