Delta One spreads its wings

Key long-haul domestic routes in the US are being brought into Delta Air Lines’ premium network from 1 April with the company introducing its Delta One product on select flights between Boston – Los Angeles and New York-JFK – San Diego and Seattle.

Other routes involved at different times according to demand include New York-JFK – Las Vegas, Atlanta – Honolulu and Minneapolis – Honolulu.

“Delta One will be offered during strategic flight times on select routes as the airline works to customise the service offering to align with times when customers are seeking the Delta One experience,” the airline said.

Among other refinements, the product includes flat-bed seats, special amenities and a “refined” dining experience. Delta says First Class service may be available on alternate flights on the routes involved.

The development also includes what the airline says is an industry-leading perk, with Delta Sky Miles medallion members eligible from 1 April for unlimited day-of-departure free upgrades to the Delta One on all domestic flights, including Hawaii.

Delta president Glen Hauenstein said: “Our domestic expansion of Delta One is all about responding to customers who have told us they want more opportunities to buy-in to the premium experience Delta One has become known for.”
