SkyTeam opens Vancouver lounge

Global airline alliance SkyTeam has officially opened its latest branded lounge at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), marking the group’s first such facility in the Americas and seventh worldwide.

The 528sq m (5,600sq ft) lounge is open to First and Business Class passengers on SkyTeam’s 20 member airlines and has two separate wings and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the runway and Vancouver’s mountains in the distance.

SkyTeam CEO Perry Cantarutti said: “Vancouver is a key SkyTeam gateway and a shared lounge means our members can offer an elevated airport experience to their top customers, while strengthening our brand.”

Features include showers, seating for 126 guests to catch up with work in a dedicated business area or watch the latest news in a separate TV room, a buffet using fresh local produce, and a wide range of drinks, including local beers and wines.

Vancouver Airport vice-president Scott Norris said: “YVR prides itself on offering exceptional customer experiences and we are thrilled to have a SkyTeam branded lounge as another premium amenity available to passengers.”

Other SkyTeam lounges in major hubs around the world include Beijing, Dubai, Heathrow, Hong Kong, Istanbul and Sydney.
