Six people from the world of travel are being honoured by the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism at World Travel Market London later today as Global Ambassadors.
They include former WTM chairman Fiona Jeffery OBE, founder and chairman of the clean-water charity Just A Drop. The ceremony is in Platinum Suites 3 & 4 at WTM from 14:45 to 16:00 and is open to all registered delegates at the show.
This year’s other recipients of the Global Ambassador title include Princess Dana Firas of Jordan; Anita Mendiratta, managing director of Cachet Consulting; Costas Christ, CEO of Beyond Green Travel and senior adviser for sustainable tourism at National Geographic; Geoffrey Lipman, director of the Green Growth & Travelism Institute and co-founder of the SunX Foundation; and David Scowsill, CEO of EON Reality and immediate past president and CEO of WTTC.
Jeffery said: “I am honoured to be considered a Global Ambassador of Peace through Tourism, but it simply reflects the power of tourism and how each of us can make a contribution to our industry that perhaps creates a lasting impact and how we progress as an industry in the future.”
