Waldorf Astoria for London

The luxury hotel being built within Admiralty Arch, one of London’s best-known monuments, is to be a Waldorf Astoria. The company has been appointed by Prime Investors Capital to operate the property following a major refurbishment.

The hotel will open in 2022 in a structure commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of Queen Victoria, and designed by Sir Aston Webb, who also created The Mall and the main facade of Buckingham Palace.

It housed the official residences of the First Sea Lords, was a centre for clandestine wartime intelligence efforts, a Royal Navy outpost, and latterly a centre for the Cabinet Office. Prime Investors outbid 28 institutional bidders from around the world to acquire a 250-year lease on the property in 2015.

The hotel is planned to include 96 guestrooms and suites and three world-class restaurants along with a rooftop bar with views across the skyline, private meeting and event spaces and a state-of-the-art spa.

Hilton president and CEO Christopher Nassetta said: "This agreement marries the elegance of Waldorf Astoria with the historic grandeur of one of London's great monuments. Projects of this calibre are rare, and Admiralty Arch Waldorf Astoria will provide a truly unforgettable hospitality experience when it opens to guests.”
