Busy winter for Finnair

New routes to Goa on 1 November, Puerto Vallarta on 5 November, Puerto Plata on 30 November and Havana on 1 December are being opened by Finnair for the winter as the airline enters the largest expansion in its 94-year history. Building on its fast-connecting hub at Helsinki, the company will be operating to 20 intercontinental destinations.

There will also be more than 100 destinations in Europe and a significant increase in capacity for Lapland destinations.

Chief commercial officer Juha Järvinen said as well as the new destinations, Finnair was expanding its network and fleet, including its 11 Airbus A350s, adding capacity to Finnish Lapland and taking “important strides in our customer experience”.

Growing demand for Lapland means Finnair is expanding capacity heavily with several weekly connections and timetables designed to support smooth connections from Europe.

As of mid-December, the airline will start flying new nonstop flights to Lapland airports Kittilä and Ivalo from Gatwick and is increasing capacity from Helsinki to several Lapland airports for the entire winter.

In line with its growth strategy Finnair has also announced an extension to its partnership with British Airways, with new codeshare flights within Europe to increase connectivity for the carriers through the respective Helsinki and London hubs.
