Heathrow – Qingdao on the way

A twice-weekly non-stop service between Heathrow and Qingdao is being launched next month by Beijing Capital Airlines using its new twin-aisle wide-body Airbus A330, shortly behind the Qingdao – Sydney non-stop already announced starting on 30 October.

The London service, on Mondays and Fridays, is the first non-stop between the two cities and means passengers will no longer have to transfer in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Hong Kong. Flight time is 12hr.

Often called the Switzerland of the Orient, Qingdao is at the southern end of the Shandong peninsula and an important transportation hub along China's eastern coast. It is a main transit port for travellers from abroad as well as those going elsewhere.

Beijing Capital, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines, said the launch was part of the company’s roadmap for accelerating the establishment of its global network and, as its first non-stop to London, “closed a gap the airline needed to fill in terms of the UK market”.

“Going forward, Beijing Capital Airlines plans to launch more travel products, offer a wider range of quality services and enable a more accommodating and comfortable travel experience for passengers travelling to London.”
