Cathay keeps up momentum

Barcelona, Tel Aviv and Fukuoka were in the Cathay Pacific spotlight last week as the airline said it was boosting services to all three destinations as part of its continuing expansion of key routes.

Cathay said its seasonal operation to Barcelona during the summer peak will become a year-round service from 15 April, starting with three weekly flights from Hong Kong and then a four-a-week service from 1 July.

The new flights, using the advanced Airbus A350-900, will complement Cathay’s four-a-week service to Madrid which goes to five a week from 29 October, meaning the airline will have more Asia – Spain non-stops than any other carrier.

Cathay says customer demand and satisfaction for its Hong Kong – Tel Aviv A350-900 services are also reasons behind its decision to operate additional frequencies between the two cities from next summer.

Launched last March as a four-a-week operation, the route will be served six times a week from 25 March, increasing to daily throughout October and November.

Meanwhile, Cathay’s regional carrier Cathay Dragon is increasing frequency between Hong Kong and Fukuoka from 18 December, initially operating an additional weekly flight to bring the total to eight, increasing to 11 from 14 January – 24 March.
