Fully-automated credit card Instalment payment plans are being offered by Etihad Airways for the first time by an airline in the Arab world after the company partnered with online payment service provider PayFort.
The initiative allows Etihad to offer passengers who book directly via the airline website plans ranging from three to 60 months. Seventeen of the region’s leading banks are taking part in the programme.
Vice-president digital strategy and innovation Justin Warby said the move was the latest enhancement in the carrier’s digital transformation programme following the establishment of a dedicated team earlier this year.
“By partnering with PayFort we’re able to offer fully automated, best-in-class technology solutions provided by the industry leaders. We’re taking a global outlook and bringing best practice to the region,” he added.
“It is an example of the most intuitive use of technology we can provide as an airline. We’re building technology and innovation into all areas of our business to enable better product and service delivery, business efficiencies and customer service.”
Etihad created its specialised Digital Transformation & Innovation team as an in-house research, development solution delivery programme with a mission to turn the company into the industry’s leading, integrated airline.
