Twenty small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) from across the UK have been awarded funding and support packages from Heathrow to encourage them to export their goods or services to new international markets.
Working in partnership with the Exporting is Great campaign from the Department for International Trade (DIT), the SMEs will receive £2,000 each to fund trade missions or to research global markets of their choice.
Heathrow’s World of Opportunity programme will provide access to personalised advice from a DIT international trade adviser and a Plaza Premium lounge pass to begin their trip in style as they depart from the airport.
The World of Opportunity programme was open from 16 June – 14 July. More than 290 applications were received and the winning entries were chosen by a panel of experts including Heathrow chairman Lord Deighton.
Airport CEO John Holland-Kaye said: “As the UK’s world gateway and biggest port by value, Heathrow is essential in getting British goods and services to international markets.
"With World of Opportunity, we are showing the world the breadth of talent and opportunity from all the UK’s nations and regions, demonstrating again that Britain’s gateway is open to business.”
