Virgin Trains' Liverpool lounge

As part of the renovation of Liverpool Lime Street station, Virgin Trains has opened a temporary First Class lounge and customer information point before a permanent facility opens this autumn.

Designed by Office Twelve, the lounge features high-quality fixtures and fittings and a mix of bespoke and off-the-shelf furniture and lighting interspersed with lively pops of colour and quirky details retaining the Virgin Trains brand hallmarks.

First Class passengers can kick back and watch the world go by or work in comfort with ultra-fast connectivity amid fashionable lighting and fittings and a tribute wall celebrating Liverpool’s heritage with specially-commissioned illustrations.

Office Twelve creative director Dan Gordon said: “The whole concept was designed to create an attractive branded space for Virgin Trains’ First Class passengers while the disruption is going on and initial feedback from customers has been excellent.”

The renovation of Liverpool Lime Street is biggest engineering upgrade of the city’s station since it opened in 1836. Around 20,000 people use the station during the morning rush hour, and passenger numbers are expected to double by 2043.

The new Virgin Trains facility was created because the company’s existing lounge had to be closed because of the construction of two new platforms.
