EasyJet in ITV spotlight
A two-part ITV documentary, Inside the Cockpit, focusing on how easyJet pilots progress from initial recruitment through training and on to flying passenger aircraft with paying passengers aboard premieres next Monday, 14 August, at 21:00.
It follows the airline’s recent launch of its largest pilot recruitment drive to date, with a focus on encouraging more women to apply for this career where currently they make up only 3% of pilots worldwide.
Meanwhile, a new UK airport is joining the easyJet network from 14 December when the airline establishes a hub at Southampton to begin services to Geneva. It is the first time the airline has operated from the south coast facility.
Airbus A320 flights will operate three times a week throughout the winter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with easyJet saying it expects to fly more than 10,000 passengers in the first season.
While most will be on their way to the ski slopes, Geneva is also a major business destination and the new flights will provide another link from the UK as well as offering connections through the Swiss hub.
