A business jet has joined the UK´s Military Flying Training System (MFTS) programme after Embraer delivered the first of five Phenom 100s on order to Affinity Flight Training Services.
The aircraft has been selected to provide multi-engine pilot training, with the contract with Affinity also including services support as well as an option for additional follow-on aircraft.
Affinity managing director Ian Chalmers said: “The arrival of the first Embraer Phenom 100 from Brazil marks a significant milestone in preparation for delivering the MFTS fixed wing programme.
“Affinity is delighted this has been achieved ahead of the original programme schedule".
Embraer Defence and Security president and CEO Jackson Schneider added: “We are very happy with our partnership with Affinity and for the opportunity to take part in the UK’s MFTS programme.
“The Phenom 100 delivers a sound combination of top performance, reliability, low operating costs and high availability. Its advanced technology makes it the right solution for the UK armed forces’ multi-engine pilot training.”
The programme takes forces aircrew from initial training through elementary, basic and advanced flying training phases preparing them for arrival at designated operational conversion units.
