Indigo for Leicester Square

Another hotel company is moving into London’s Leicester Square, hard on the heels of Accor, whose MGallery by Sofitel opens within the heritage site of Victory House next month (BTN last week).

Latest in line is InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which said last week its Hotel Indigo London – One Leicester Square will open in the fourth quarter of this year. It will be the fourth property in London under the Indigo brand and 11th in the UK.

The property will operate under a franchise agreement with Criterion Capital, the first venture for the two groups, and will have 95 guest rooms. Features include a business centre, and rooftop bar and restaurant with views of central London.

IHG associate vice president of development UK&I Andrew Shaw said: “The increase in international inbound travel to London is driving a need for new hotels and an opportunity to grow our portfolio.

"Hotel Indigo London – One Leicester Square will be a valuable addition to the brand, in a globally recognised London location." The new property joins 21 Hotel Indigo hotels open and 18 in the pipeline across Europe.
