New Vancouver link welcomed

Gatwick’s new three-times-weekly link to Vancouver operated by Air Canada Rouge has been welcomed with a traditional water salute at the beginning of a seasonal operation that will run to 7 October.

Air Canada sales general manager for the UK and Ireland Stephen Gerrard said: “We successfully launched our Gatwick – Toronto service last summer and we are pleased to introduce our second seasonal service with onward connections to our extensive global network.”

Gatwick chief commercial officer Guy Stephenson added: “Vancouver is one of the world’s most exciting places to visit, with a wealth of festivals, galleries, theatres, museums and music venues.

“It is the principal gateway to the famous Canadian outdoors, but this new route also provides an important connection between the two countries’ business communities, including Vancouver’s flourishing high-tech, media and green economy sectors.”

Flights are operating with a two-cabin 282-seat Boeing B767-300ER on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and are timed to optimise connectivity through the Vancouver hub.

The aircraft offers 24 Premium Rouge seats with extra legroom and enhanced service in the front cabin and 258 Economy seats – including 39 Preferred seats with additional legroom – in the rear cabin.
