Oman arrives in Manchester

With a new Thomas Cook Airlines service to San Francisco under its belt (see this issue), Manchester Airport has also been celebrating Oman Air’s new daily flight to and from Muscat, the latest move in a fleet and network expansion by the carrier.

Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch was among those on board the inaugural flight into Manchester, together with high-ranking dignitaries and the airline’s senior management team and media, greeted by airport officials and Manchester’s  mayor.

The 7.5hr flight is operated by an Airbus A330-200 and is in addition to the double daily flight from Heathrow, making Manchester the only airport outside London to have direct flights to Oman.

Gregorowitsch said: “The addition of this flight is a pivotal development and demonstrates our commitment to the UK market, with Oman Air the only carrier operating direct flights to the Sultanate outside London.

“The service also offers passengers the opportunity to connect with our global network – almost 30 destinations have connectivity inside of 3hr in both directions mean Oman Air offers a really attractive option for travellers.”
