Kimpton arrives in Europe

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has brought its Kimpton brand to Europe with the opening of the Kimpton De Witt in the heart of Amsterdam. It is also the first example of the brand outside the Americas.

The 274 rooms include nine suites in the original Golden Age buildings that form part of the hotel complex inspired by Dutch design, from a modern take on classic art in the bedrooms to blue Delft-inspired tiles paving the bathroom floors.

The property also incorporates a three-storey house dating from the 1600s and once the childhood home of Dutch playwright P C Hooft. The house, which has two king-size rooms and a first floor living room, can be rented as a private place to stay.

Also featured is Kimpton De Witt’s signature suite, the Penthouse De Witt, which extends over two storeys and includes a 30sq m roof terrace with views of Amsterdam and its trademark canal houses.

Further expansion across Europe is planned by IHG, which says a second Kimpton hotel is set to open in Paris in 2020. There are currently more than 60 Kimpton hotels and more than 70 Kimpton restaurants, bars and lounges in 33 cities across Europe and the Americas.
