Arkia heads for Stansted

Israeli carrier Arkia is to launch three-times-weekly flights between Stansted and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport from 12 June using Boeing B757s and B737s in its new logo introduced following a rebranding programme.

The London flights are part of a network expansion which also includes services to and from Belgrade, Batumi, Bucharest, Sardinia, Thessalonica, Milan and Northern Cyprus. The new logo marks the first time in 17 years the airline has rebranded, and the project has coincided with the introduction of modern jet aircraft equipped with wireless internet and intranet entertainment systems.

Arkia is also launching an advanced app under the slogan “Arkia – From A to Fun” enabling passengers to choose their seats and check-in online.

As part of the programme, the company's fleet has been renewed and expanded to include five new Embraer aircraft, with a sixth to be added later this year, as well as two B757-300s and, within a year, the new Airbus A321neo.

CEO Nir Dagan also announced the introduction in the coming months of free-to-use intranet-based entertainment and media systems which will be available to passengers using their own electronic devices through a dedicated app.
