In a move which it says brings the Premium Economy concept as used by airlines to the UK hotel market, Travelodge last week launched “SuperRooms”, said to be the first of their kind and designed especially for business travellers.
The company says the new-style rooms, which are also aimed at those in the leisure market seeking a more upmarket stay, feature “lots of new additional creature comforts” and a modern residential décor scheme to create a “home from home feel”.
SuperRooms are so far available in London at Waterloo, Farringdon, Euston and City Road with up to 1,000 more coming on-stream this year UK-wide, including more central London locations, Heathrow and Gatwick, and Bath.
Along with a special relaxing colour scheme and blackout curtains to create the right atmosphere for a restful night’s sleep, each room also offers a capsule coffee machine, a Raindance three-jet shower and multiple power and USB charging points.
Travelodge chief executive Peter Gowers said: “More business travellers are opting for a budget hotel and last year we generated more sales from business customers than leisure. SuperRooms add an extra choice for those spending more time working in the room, are staying longer or who just value that little bit more comfort.”
