Swiss carrier Skywork Airlines has relaunched service between Bern and London City Airport (LCY), saying it was “reviving a tradition” as well as responding to customer requests for a lunchtime departure from the Swiss city.
The carrier is operating a 50-seat Saab 2000 on the route with flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and says it will increase the schedule “if there is sufficient demand”.
Passengers on the first flight were given a small gift for the journey at Bern Airport to mark the occasion and were given a special welcome on arrival in London by airport representatives.
Skywork has its head office in Belp near Bern and its base at Bern Airport. It primarily operates scheduled flights to destinations across Europe, with additional charter operations throughout the summer months.
In addition to two Saab 2000s, the fleet also includes three Dornier 328s with 31 seats with both aircraft chosen according to the airline for their “comfort, high airspeed and roomy cabins”.
