With two new properties in London and additional openings in Aberdeen and Amsterdam this year, Marriott International says its Residence Inn brand expects to more than double its European portfolio in 2017.
The opening of Residence Inn London – London Bridge, expected this summer, will mark the debut of the company’s extended-stay brand in the UK capital. Another property in the portfolio is scheduled to follow in Kensington in the fourth quarter.
Both properties will operate under a franchise agreement with hotel management company and extended-stay market specialist Cycas Hospitality, with the London Bridge property having 87 suites and Kensington 307.
Residence Inns properties feature separate living, working and sleeping areas, kitchens, a grocery delivery service, fitness facilities and free breakfasts and wi-fi.
Marriott International chief development officer Europe Carlton Ervin said: “This is set to be a pivotal year for the brand in Europe with these latest signings a fantastic opportunity to grow the brand in such a strategic global destination.”
The other openings in Aberdeen and Amsterdam will grow the European portfolio from three to seven hotels, with the four additions seeing almost 600 rooms added to the portfolio. A further eight properties are anticipated by the end of 2019.
