In a departure from its traditionally sober image, Marriott International has launched its latest brand, Moxy Hotels, in London’s Docklands, joining a line-up that so far includes Munich, Milan, Berlin and New Orleans.
Described as “a boutique-hotel concept for the next-gen traveller”, the brand is characterised by what Marriott says is vibrant design and approachable service to offer “the style and spirit of a boutique hotel at an affordable price”.
The 164-room Moxy London Excel is near the ExCeL convention and exhibition centre and London City Airport and features photo booth-inspired lifts where guests are encouraged to take selfies after they check in.
Another feature is the Living Room, equipped with power points, USB outlets and high-speed free wi-fi, where guests can both do business and spend leisure time, hold meetings or special events and have cocktails served.
Global brand director Vicki Poulos said: “Moxy Hotels is on a mission to reinvent traditional hospitality with lively communal spaces and an energetic crew that helps guests to enjoy themselves whether at work or play.”
Free wi-fi and plentiful USB ports are also offered in the 164 contemporary guest rooms, which range from standard to family size and have 42in LCD flat-screen TVs and special deep-seated armchairs in calming, neutral fabrics.
