Iberia's new-look Shuttle

Passengers are being offered greater flexibility, more services and a wider choice of flights after Iberia announced it was relaunching its Madrid – Barcelona Air Shuttle, known as the Puente Aéreo, or Air Bridge, following an agreement with Vueling to operate the service jointly.

The changes, announced by Iberia chief commercial officer Marco Sansavini, will start in July and also include the option of making flight reservations in addition to walk-on and pre-paid open tickets.

All elements will be accessible online via the Iberia website or smartphone app, allowing passengers to head straight to boarding gates when they arrive at the airports.

Passengers who do not check in online will be able to do it in a dedicated area as late as 15min before flight departure. There will also be dedicated security controls at the airports.

Aircraft operating Air Shuttle services will be located at boarding gates near these areas and Business Class and other premium passengers will have easy access to nearby VIP lounges.

Up to 26 flights on weekdays and 13 on weekends will be available, thanks to the addition of Vueling’s 10 flights to Iberia’s 16, with flights every 15 or 30min at peak and every hour at other times.
