Fontainebleau switch-on

One of the best-known hotels in the US, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, is claiming to have become one of the best connected after having installed what are claimed to be the fastest high-speed internet services and amenities.

The work has been carried out by Hotwire Communications, a leading provider of fibre-optic telecommunications services to the hospitality industry, making the Fontainebleau one of the first hotels in Miami to have full 10-gigabit service.

Hotwire sales and hospitality vice-president Alexandria Richards said such an installation would ensure every guest at the Fontainebleau received the most dependable and fast internet experience possible.

Designed by architect Morris Lapidus, the Fontainebleau opened in 1954 and is one of several examples of Miami Modern architecture, known for its curved angles and flamboyant design including the “Staircase to Nowhere”.

In addition to having been featured in a number of films including Goldfinger, The Bodyguard and Scarface, the hotel has welcomed a throng of famous guests, among them Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. It was named in 2012 the  “Best Building in Florida” by the Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
