The 18th birthday of oneworld, which has been called the most highly prized global alliance, with its 14 member airlines, is to be marked at the February lunch of the Aviation Club UK when the group’s new CEO, Rob Gurney, will be the speaker.
Oneworld member carriers together account for some 20% of the global industry’s total capacity. Gurney was named CEO last August 2016 after a career spanning British Airways, Qantas and Emirates.
In his speech, he is expected to outline how oneworld plans to continue to add value for its airline members and customers now that it has come of age and how the role of global alliances might develop in the future.
Aviation Club chairman Jane Johnston said: “There has never been such a wind of change in the political environment that shapes our industry, and never a more important time to make sure you are in touch with the news, views and insights from colleagues in the club.
“I am delighted Rob Gurney has agreed to mark oneworld’s 18th birthday at the start of our programme for 2017 and we look forward to hearing his insights.”
