If you’re serious about those New Year resolutions to keep fit and lose pounds (or kilos), work for an airport and start lifting the weight of an African elephant by hand every day. According to research by London City Airport (LCY), that’s what baggage handlers do.
Concluding that looking after airlines and their passengers could be among the UK’s most active jobs, the research also shows airport managers clock up more than nine miles on average per day by foot.
It is not true of LCY, the only true international gateway with short distances to the departure gates, but it is those miles of walking that means that gyms at airports do not exist. You keep fit for free!
