The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company is making a £530,000 investment in upgrading its Skybus fleet of aircraft to include new interiors, enhanced navigation systems and a striking new livery.
The work is in the hands of specialist company RAS Completions, which has been commissioned to repaint the entire Skybus DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet at its facility at Biggin Hill Airport.
Skybus operates services connecting the Isles of Scilly with England, with year-round flights to the largest island, St Mary’s, from Land’s End and Newquay airports, and between March and November also from Exeter Airport.
Flight time from Land’s End to St Mary’s is 15min, from Newquay 30min and from Exeter 60min.
All eight aircraft in the fleet are being decorated with a new red, white and blue tailfin design and having their interiors upgraded by April.
RAS managing director Chris Ransley said: “Quality and service are at the heart of everything we do and we are extremely proud the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company have entrusted us to be a key part of the team that refreshes the Skybus offering.”
