BTN Christmas Quiz Results

The fun is taking part and not necessarily winning

Our thanks to  easyJet  for the first prize of two return flights anywhere on the system (must be taken by 31 March 2017 and there are some restricted dates). Gatwick has offered free parking, and Fast Track too. If yours is another airport, we will talk to them but no promises. Also use of the  Swissport  Aspire lounge. BTN stayed at the  Amba Hotel Charing Cross  and was most impressed. We’ve a dinner, bed and breakfast for two plus tickets for ‘The Comedy About A Bank Robbery’ at the Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly Circus, just a short walk away.

There are six special prizes courtesy of  Crecy the aviation (and transport) bookseller  for your choice of its Aviation History titles. The Royal Aeronautical Society has chipped in with three copies of its special book 'Delivering the Dream'.

Our special thanks go to Rod Simpson for his photographs. Rod is the author of more than a dozen aviation books, chairman of Air-Britain and editor of its house magazine, Aviation World.

Our opener showed three famous former seaborne mobile landing strips called aircraft carriers. At the moment, the Royal Navy does not operate any but Queen Elizabeth is promised for next year. HMS A, B & C please and the approximate years the pictures were taken.

We will announce the winners next week.  If you enjoyed the quiz post a comment on OUR READERS FINEST WORDS to your right.

I am with Simon on No.28, it's not even a MiG! It's a Shenyang F-6, a Chinese made copy of the MiG! Also, I cannot find any evidence of Mike Pence having a 737-400, his aircraft was in fact a 737-700. Finally, No. 19 looks to be the retro-fitted CRJ-200 used by the Blade company in Florida (http://www.notey.com/@thepointsguy_unofficial/external/13058631/blade-unveils-retrofitted-crj-200-for-private-flights-to-miami.html)

Loved doing the quiz this year. With the utmost respect to the quiz setter, I suggest that he has the Air Force answer at No.28 wrong. It's Albanian, not Bulgarian. I've seen it for a start!
