Singapore Airlines A350 heads north

Manchester will host its first commercial A350 flight on 17 January when Singapore Airlines (SIA) launches its new Dash-900 model of the aircraft on its services to both Singapore and Houston.

The airline’s general manager UK and Ireland, Sheldon Hee, said: “This exciting development enhances our new non-stop routes launched on 30 October [BTN 7 November] and also introduces our new Premium Economy cabin and latest Business Class design to those flying from Manchester.

“Our new A350 services are a commitment to keep investing in delivering an ever-better experience for our customers in the north and, with our recent codeshare partnership with FlyBe, offering convenient access to Singapore Airlines from even more cities.”

In another development, Stockholm will become the second Scandinavian city in Singapore Airlines’ route network from 30 May 2017, when the airline introduces flights to Sweden’s capital, via Moscow, also using the Airbus A350-900.

The airline currently operates four weekly flights to Moscow from Singapore. From 30 May 2017, frequency will increase to five per week and the flights will continue to Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport.

The new flights will complement SIA’s existing services to Copenhagen, boosting connectivity between southeast Asia and northern Europe.
